Dear nurses, students, and moms,
Society will tell you that you had a lot of time during this last year and that you should have utilized that time wisely. That you should have finished that book by now. Decorated that house by now. Passed the NCLEX by now. Weaned that baby from their pacifier by now. Gotten your life together by now. You had all this time. Read this next part really well. If all you did was make it through to this point, you did a great job! If all you did was survive, if all you did was find a way to keep your house, car, some type of income, you did good. And even if not, you are here. That is what really matters. We can start again.
That is the beauty of grace. It is what we have been offered. It is what we should offer ourselves. It is what we should offer to others. This is no excuse for us to actively choose to do nothing when we have the capacity. It is no excuse to put off everything and then say “grace yourself, girlfriend.” It is just a reminder to do the best you can with what you have been given. And when you mess up, and you will…”grace, girlfriend.” May we all do better. Be better. And until then…grace upon grace.
Be blessed,
A.G.
