This month, I asked Lauren, my amazing stylist, for business casual looks that I can easily travel in. My job requires that I travel a lot, so comfort is key (not to mention that I’m always cold on the plane, lol!) Lauren totally delivered, sending me 5 pieces that are easily dressed up or down for business casual perfection! Let’s see how everything looked, shall we? Let’s go!
41 Hawthorn Rebeka Dress in Black ($78) Status: RETURNED
Ok, so Lauren knows how much I LOVE a fit-and-flare dress! This one is super cute. I love how the bottom is so different from the top. But, in my personal opinion, this dress adds to my figure. It somehow makes me look different and I don’t like that! As much as I love the fit-and-flare style, I’m starting to think that it doesn’t play well with my body type. I paired this dress with my Rue Royale Convertible Necklace and the blue and silver Bead + Chain Multi-Wrap Bracelet from Chloe + Isabel. I also wore my black Jessica Simpson wedge sandals. If I would have loved the fit, this dress would have been a keeper!
Market & Spruce Colibri Plaid Henley Top in Navy ($48) Status: RETURNED
Everything about this top screams “HOLIDAY!!” I love the colors and the fit of it. This top can be super versatile and dressed up or down easily. I decided to go “Casual Friday” and paired this top with my most comfy skinnies and Just Fab brown boots. You will see my Chloe + Isabel Bead + Chain Multi-Wrap bracelet in blue and silver make a statement here too. The only reason I returned this top is because of the sleeves. Tab sleeve tops bother me when I am teaching. The sleeves always get stuck on my elbow and I feel like I’m in front of the room flailing trying to free my arms! I also couldn’t problem solve by just letting the sleeves be full length, because they aren’t full length. So, back it went!
Erica Taylor Karen Printed Straight Leg Pant in Burgundy ($88) Status: ALMOST kept, but RETURNED
Gosh, I wanted to love these pants so badly! First, the print is so pretty and unique. The print is what sets these pants apart from other similar styles. The color is very rich and vibrant. Burgundy is very on trend for the Fall, as well. I had 2 issues with these, though. One, they are straight leg, which makes it hard to pair with shoes (that I already own.) Two, they are fitted. I mean, hug my every curve kind of fitted. I felt like they were too fitted to wear to work. So, unfortunately, these had to be returned. Please note that I mean fitted for MY body and MY preference. I just choose to dress to my own personal level of comfort and style! I paired these lovely bottoms with one of my favorite bell-sleeve blouses from Eve Marie’s (a local boutique.) For some understated glam, I added my Chloe + Isabel Tre’sors Toggle Bracelet and the Pearl + Crystal Floral Filigree Earrings.
Dolce Vita Abbey D’Orsay Flats in Burgundy ($65) Status: RETURNED
Guys, these are as cute as all get out! The color is so rich and vibrant….BUT….they didn’t fit my feet well. They were uncomfortable to me. Shoes and I have a love/hate relationship. I love them, they hate me! I have to really try on every pair of shoes I purchase and they have to fit great. I’m also not the biggest fan of pointy-toe shoes, but I was definitely willing to give these a shot! If they would have been super comfy, I would have kept them. Maybe, these are someone else’s perfect pair?! If you are wondering about the AMAZING tote these shoes are resting on, this is the Street Level tote from a previous Fix. DRUM ROLL, PLEASE??!! My keeper item was….
Collective Concepts Linly Twist Neck Detail Blouse in Black ($64) Status: MINE, ALL MINE!
All the pretty details are here! This top is anything but basic. First, I am not a huge fan of wearing black, but the neckline makes up for that! The design is also present in the back of the top. The sleeves come below the elbow, so it is also very comfortable. I paired this loveliness with a gray floppy hat, my burgundy Just Black skinny jeans from my last Fix, and my monogrammed riding boots. My Chloe + Isabel Retro Glam Square-Cut Bracelet gave me just the right amount of bling!
My keeper is a perfect addition to my closet! I am loving of thinking of brand new ways to rock this blouse! Big shout out to Lauren and to Stitch Fix for styling me this month!
