Shine Bright!

Why do we feel the need to limit ourselves? “Oh, I’m just a nurse. Oh, I’m just a mom. Oh, I’m just this or that.” One of the most beautiful things about human life is that we are multi-faceted. Just like precious gems. The more facets, the greater the sparkle and value. It’s all the “things” that we are and do that make us so unique.

There have been times where I tried to lessen myself and all the things that I am, to accommodate other people. Every time I did this, I felt like I lost a piece of myself. Like I was being less than who I really was. It wasn’t until I realized that who I am and who I am meant to be, is nobody else’s concern but mine! We need to be so concerned about making sure we are living up to our own potential, that we don’t have time to look to the left to watch what our neighbor is doing with their life.

I am a Nurse. An Educator. A mother. A wife. A business owner. An emotional wreck at times. A blogger. A social media influencer. A procrastinator. A daughter. A hopeless romantic. A self-proclaimed fashionista. And a whole list of other things. I will not apologize for any of it. I will not hide any of it. This is me. All these little pieces come together to make a great, big, beautiful me. I accept it all. The good, bad, and indifferent. It is my hope that more men and women would learn to embrace their entire being and learn how to use empowerment to better themselves and the world around them. All your facets don’t shine for just you. They shine for others to see and to reflect as well.

Shine bright, friends!

Beautifully written! A great way to shed the light on what we truly are and not apologize for it. As you stated When one does Shine Bright it will allow them to have a positive self-esteem.
